| Sukuma mother and child figure, Tanzania 53" tall x 10" wide Wood, metal, pigment SOLD The arms of the mother are hinged and are movable and the faces of the mother and the figure, most likely representing a young initiate instead of a child, are covered in metal. This figure comes from my personal collection, I acquired it from Tookalook Native Arts a few years back. I believe this figure was carved by a Sukuma carver and most likely dates from the 70's or 80's. |
