A nice modern version of this traditional Ndebele doll adorned in a whool blanket with beaded accents, wearing a leather skirt that also has
beaded accents.
Traditionally among the Ndebele people such dolls were used to ensure a successful marriage and to enable to couple to conceive. Small ones
were worn around the neck for the same purposes. These days dolls such as this are being made by women's co-ops in South Africa as a source
of income.
