Attribution of figures from Tanzania can be a real challenge. I am calling this large and wonderful expressive maternity figure Luguru based on
her hairstyle. The Luguru are neighbors of the Kwere, who produce similar figures, and the Zaramo peoples.
Despite its appearance, I believe that this figure was made specifically for the collecting market.
