Yaka post figure, Democratic Republic of the Congo
29.5"  tall
wood, pigment
Being sold on consignment from a private collection, MA.

$400

In their traditional context, Yaka post figures were commemorative rather than architectural supports and were not
used as fetishes like other Yaka figures.  This object was acquired by it's owner, who was a US diplomat, during
his time in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the early 70's.

This object shows no real signs of age or use; it is my opinion that it was made specifically for the collecting
market.
